Mission Completed!!!!!  At least for the drive over.

I drove close to 1000 miles yesterday.  I ended up stopping at a rest stop about 40 miles outside of Phoenix, AZ.  SL 500 Mercedes.  A great car to drive.  Not very good trying to catch some sleep in.  Still, in tough situations we do what we have to do.  I was exhausted and needed some shut eye, but wasn’t going to pay a hotel for the privilege of sleeping a few hours but getting charged for a day.  So, after three cramped-sitting-upright hours of sleep I was ready to continue the journey.

Finally, after a little over four days of driving I made it to the planned stopping point….Santa Monica, California

This may seem like a very boring vacation to anyone who happens to read this, but this has been a vacation that I have dreamed of for years.  A coast-to-coast drive, in a nice performance car, open road, with no planned agenda.  For me that was relaxing and a bit of a mind freeing experience.  I have other vacations that I would like to take, but none like this.  This was a boyhood, back to basics, solitary journey, an adventure of sorts.  I feel good.  This is something that I can take off of my list and not wonder about…”only if…” or have regrets like so many of us in life when reflecting on something we haven’t done.

Now for the trip back…(smile).
