Day 3 – San Antonio, Texas

It is approximately 2:30am local time.  I am sitting in a McDonald’s in San Antonio, Texas.  I am tired.  I have been driving for roughly 12 hours.

SanAntonioMcDs

This is one high tech McDonald’s.  They have touch screen monitors with games.  Tables that light up when you touch them.  Fluid menus that have video and changing items.  I am sitting here drinking a cup of coffee re-evaluating what I have done so far.  It may have been a mistake to go to Florida first.  Also, all of the stops, other than gas-food-bathroom, have added time to my trip.  By my calculations, I would have made California (or close by now).  Instead, I am in San Antonio and have well over 1000 more miles to travel.

I seem to have forgotten that my goal is to make it to the West Coast and touch the ocean.  I made sure I kept driving through New Orleans, and did not stop in a few other places that I would have.  I need to rest.  I am not going to blog anymore today.  I am thinking about getting another hotel and taking a day to rest and recuperate before finishing the trip.

But first things first, since I am going to spend the night here and start fresh on Tuesday (day 4), I might as well eat like a BOSS!  A seafood place called PAPPADEAUX.  Yes.  I had Oysters, Fillet Mignon, Lobster Tail, and Coconut shrimp.  Now…I should sleep good!

  1. Looking like an awesome trip so far. Making some miles. Should have taken a small tent and sleeping bag. 😉

    • Thanks Bob! I am really enjoying the journey. I just wish I had more time. This is a trip that I have actually dreamed of and wanted to do for a long, long time. I thank GOD that I am blessed to be able to do it now.
