Day 9 – Raleigh, NC (Done!)

I’m BACK!!! I am done.  Back at home in Raleigh, North Carolina.  This was a great trip and the fulfillment of a dream.  It was a very tough drive, but a very enjoyable one.  I would challenge anyone that reads this to go about the business of achieving your dreams.  Don’t live your dream by the standards of others, but follow your dream in the manner that is befitting you.

I was able to do something that many people would have thought improbable.  I went down to Jacksonville Beach, Florida, dipped my feet in the Atlantic Ocean then drove all the way across the country to Santa Monica Beach, California and dipped my feet in the Pacific Ocean.

I logged in 5,708.3 miles on my journey.  I made it safely, and other than a run-in with a large piece of metal, came back relatively unscathed (if you do not count exhaustion).

5,708 miles!!!!  And I was able to do that and visit all of the places that I blogged about in basically a week.  9 days….8 days calendar wise…left on a Saturday morning and returned to my living room couch to write this blog post on the following Sunday morning.  I drove 1300 miles yesterday to complete my journey.  I would not suggest anyone try to log the hours behind the wheel that I did.  I feel that I am a special case.  A person who is used to being solo most of the time, so the time alone, the ability to stay focused and alert in various situations, the ability to not be bored by what others would consider monotony, were not things that encumbered me.

Thanks to any viewers that shared in this journey through this basic blog.  A special thanks to the co-workers and friends who took the time to read my daily posts and those who commented and sent me text messages while I was on the journey.  This was more comfort and encouragement than you know.  Thanks also to the friends who took time to give me a quick call.  I really appreciated the conversation on my journey.  GOD Bless you all!

  1. Great trip! I enjoyed reading about all of your adventures. Some of the food looked delicious! I’m glad you made it back safely!

    • Thanks Melinda! I just wish I had more time to visit more places. I still cannot believe that I accomplished this trip in such a short time span and ate up so many miles. I really did enjoy every minute of the vacation and it was really refreshing.

      • Melvin, thanks for sharing your journey experiences. You’ve definitely accomplished a trip not a lot of folks can do but only think about due to the long hours of driving through the states. I could do it after I watched a few episodes of surviving in the wild alone. Lol Great well done!

      • Thanks Roger. I am going to start posting some of the smaller trips…or as I like to call them “One Tankers”. Little trips that can be done on one tank of gas. Check back soon!
